BattleBorne is a collaborative effort among like-minded individuals and organizations intent on repairing and restoring people who have served our country. We do this by delivering a unique level of support and guidance to those service men and women who have emotional and psychological wounds. We provide support directly and indirectly in collaboration with others in our community who value those who have served this nation and its communities.

Our Mission is to connect veterans with the resources needed to recover from mental, emotional and physical trauma so they can restore their lives and reintegrate into society. We achieve this through a collaborative effort of like minded individuals and organizations, by leveraging both internal and external resources to assist veterans in our community.

Chris Yarnell

President, Founder

BIO
Christopher Yarnell is a USMC veteran. Christopher founded Battle Borne in 2018. As a CPS, Christopher strives to help veterans and their family members through the mission at Battle Borne. He uses his life experiences to connect with veterans to help them on their journey to recovery and well-being.

Christopher has received multiple awards for his service to the veteran’s and local community. He has been recognized by the Red Cross, The National Guard, The County of Northampton, The House of Representatives, Two State Senators, and a few local organizations.

Cadence Yeatman

Vice President, Co-Founder

BIO

Cadence grew up in a military family, moving frequently before settling in the Lehigh Valley in 2001. She lives with her husband, Chris, a former Marine. Since 2009, she has worked as a Certified Surgical Technologist at St. Luke’s Hospital and has a B.A. in Biology at DeSales University, aiming for a Master’s as a Physician’s Assistant. Cadence volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters, mentoring the same Little Sister for four years.

She and Chris met through local Veterans organizations, and together they share a vision to connect veterans with resources to help them reach their potential. Though never having served herself, Cadence deeply respects those who have, and she actively gives back to the military community. She serves as Vice President of Battle Borne, overseeing inventory and shipping of merchandise.

Kelsey Aikens

Director of Social Services

BIO

Kelsey is a New Jersey native, currently serving as a Staff-Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves. She resides in East Stroudsburg, PA with her fiancé, whom she met while serving within the same unit in the Army. Kelsey has one tour under her belt so far, where she served as the Team Leader for the Theater Mortuary Evacuation Point in Kuwait.

Aside from her military experience, Kelsey has a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health with a concentration in Addiction and Mental Health, and a Master’s degree in Social Work. She is also a Licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania. Kelsey has 5 years of experience in social services, mental health, and substance abuse. Kelsey supports Battle Borne’s mission by utilizing her education and experience to connect veterans to resources in the community.

Evelyn (Evie) Robles

Veterans Recovery Coordinator

Evelyn is a New York native with over twenty years of experience in mental health and substance abuse disorder. Evelyn has a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration with a minor in Psychology. She is a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Currently, Evelyn has returned to school to pursue a career in Addiction Medicine/Nursing, where she hopes she can use all her skills to help the underserved population in the community.

Todd J. Bushta, CPA

Certified Public Accountant with a Sophisticated background manifesting itself as “expert at becoming expert” Auditor & Chief Financial Operator with well demonstrated COSO & reporting excellence, carefully informing decisions governance makes.

Whitney Schantz

Board Member

BIO

Whitney, a Lehigh Valley native, is a Board Member of Battle Borne, where she supports fundraising, grant research, event planning, and marketing. With 23 years in retail management, she brings leadership, project management, and operations skills to her work with the organization.

As an entrepreneur, Whitney runs two businesses, specializing in burnout recovery as a Life Coach, and co-hosting continuing education seminars for professionals.

In her free time, she enjoys being with her husband, son, and rescue pup, while focusing on mental health and wellness.

Miranda Sisolak

Executive Board Member

Miranda Sisolak is a Lehigh Valley native with 24 years in human services. She has worked for Lehigh County for her whole career in areas such as mental health, children and youth, intellectual disabilities, early intervention, forensics, and housing and homeless advocacy. She has a bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College in political science and philosophy.

Dr. Petra Frese

Chief Holistic Health Advisor

Dr. Petra Frese is Chief Holistic Health at Battle Borne, specializing in trauma recovery and wellness for veterans and first responders. She has served as a firefighter for almost ten years. With dual PhDs in Psychology and a Master’s in Engineering, she integrates scientific and spiritual approaches to healing.

Her expertise includes trauma recovery, stress management, addiction support, hypnotherapy, and energy healing. As the founder of Peak Mind Academy and an award-winning author, she is recognized among Brainz Magazine’s Top 500 influential leaders.

Petra is dedicated to empowering individuals to reclaim their lives and enhance their resilience through a holistic approach to well-being.

Kassandra Ahner

Board Member

BIO
Kassandra (Kassie) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a diverse educational background, including a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science and a master’s in social work. This blend of disciplines gives her a unique perspective on mental health and addiction treatment, combining clinical expertise with an understanding of socio-political contexts.

With 15 years of experience in the field, Kassie has worked as a trauma-informed therapist, case manager, program coordinator, and mobile service provider. She is also a published, award-winning writer, using her skills to raise awareness and advocate for systemic change in mental health and addiction.
